ATR EMPLOYEES COMPLETE MODERN APPRENTICESHIP SCHEME

Seven young employees at the Aberdeen office of the global equipment specialists ATR Group have recently completed a government-backed Modern Apprenticeship scheme, making them the company's first ever modern apprentices in business and administration.

The employees, all under the age of 25 years, were awarded SVQ Level 3 Business and Administration qualifications and Modern Apprenticeship certificates after finishing the eight month course which saw them completing modules as they progressed.

Alix McGillivray, Eden Baxter, Danielle Bruce, Melissa Bruce, Beth Gibson, Emma Thomson and Gemma McIver all hold various admin positions across the company's five business units. As well as receiving their SVQ certificates, several who were under 19 at the date of enrolment, were also presented with £100 incentive cheques from the government scheme. The Modern Apprenticeship program, funded by Skills Development Scotland and arranged through JB Management, saw the employees develop their office-based skillset in areas such as document production, sales, logistics and customer services.

Melissa Bruce works in ATR Group's Lifting Solutions division as an administration assistant. She said: " The modules covered in the SVQ Level 3 Business and Administration course have really helped boost my confidence in the workplace, keep me focused and motivated to tackle any new challenges that come my way. It's been hard work, but ATR Group has fully supported us all in pursuing this qualification and helping us to develop our careers. It's also pulled everyone in the office closer together forming an even tighter knit team to ensure we are able to deliver an even better service to our clients."

ATR Group chief executive Keith Moorhouse said:

"The seven modern apprentices have really excelled themselves by committing the time and hard work needed to carry out their daily work schedule and finish the modules with 100% pass rate.
